Eugen’s project and the story behind it seduced me, as I’m always trying to find something unexpected to motivate me. For the high percentage of naturals found in our fragrances, Perfumer Antoine Lie utilized the Grand Cru ingredients palette from Lab Atelier Français Des Matières (the French Materials Workshop). This palette is comprised of more than 25 exclusive and outstanding natural extracts sourced from the finest producers around the world. Lab Atelier Français Des Matières adheres to 3 principles for their Grand Cru palette of ingredients:
1. A commitment to sourcing distinctive materials of exceptional provenance. We work with small producers whose private harvests do not fit the traditional mass production model of modern perfume. We respect and celebrate the specific nuances of each harvest, and avoid standardizing the extracts composition.
2. Ensuring each material is at its peak of quality prior to extraction, be it dry aging (iris, vetiver), fermentation (patchouli), or splitting the harvest periods (jasmine extract from beginning, middle, or end of harvest).
3. Utilizing innovative, in house extraction technology. A proprietary green solvent extraction process provides a more efficient yield, while coaxing out the delicate scent molecules which are currently lost in most standard industry processes.

Les Abstraits (The Abstract) was born of Eugen’s desire to reflect on the art of life as seen through the world of perfume. In collaboration with master perfumer Antoine Lie, Eugen has created three fragrances that convey the entire range of human emotion, from profound heartache and loss, to the joy of emerging on the other side. Les Abstraits’ complex and emotional perfumes vibrate with life, lingering in your imagination and heart long after they’ve evaporated from your skin.
